JJB Sports PLC is sensitive to privacy issues on the Internet. We believe that it is important you know how we treat the information about you that we receive on the Internet.

CCTV Policy

We may use CCTV cameras at our premises for the primary purpose of the safety and security of Club members and staff.

Footage obtained from CCTV cameras will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. For the purposes of that Act, the data controller is JJB Sports Plc, trading as MiFit, registered office Challenge Way, Martland Park, Wigan, Lancashire WN5 0LD.

We will deal with images captured and stored by the CCTV system in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act.

Images will be stored for one month.

Access to live pictures and to stored images will be limited to authorised JJB personnel only, with the exception that law enforcement agencies may be provided with access to live pictures and/or stored images for the purpose of the prevention or detection of crime and the apprehension or prosecution of offenders.

Under Section 7 of the Data Protection Act, you are entitled to make a request for access to records that we hold about you. This is known as a subject access request. Any subject access request must be made in writing to: Rachel Young, JJB Sports, Leisure Division, Martland Park, Challenge Way, Wigan, WN5 0LD. We will write to you confirming the information that you will need to provide in order to allow us to identify the specific material requested. There will be an administration charge of £10.

CCTV may capture images of other people, not just you. We will consider the footage that you are asking for, and if we feel that providing access to these images would be detrimental to the rights of others shown in the footage, such as the right to privacy, then we reserve the right not to provide access to the requested material.

Access may be granted subject to supervised viewing of the footage by an authorised member of our staff.

Images will not be disclosed to any third party save as set out above.

We will take reasonable precautions to ensure that when images are no longer to be stored, they are properly destroyed.

In the unlikely event that it appears to us that any images may have been disclosed to a third party in error, then if we are able to establish that the images were of you, we will write to you to tell you.
